The 2001 - 2002
Mountaineer Hockey season is just around the corner, with the Blue
-vs- Gold intersquad game scheduled for Friday, October 5, 2001. The
Mountaineers home opener is scheduled the following day, Saturday,
October 6, 2001, against Indiana University of Pennsylvania. On
Sunday, October 7, 2001, the Mountaineers will make a short road
trip to Duquesne University to close out their first weekend of
play.
The 2001 - 2002
Mountaineer Hockey team consists of 16 returners and 14 rookies.
Take a look at the roster to see who returned and to get a glimpse
of the new Mountaineer Hockey members. Coach Dan Mardis will be
behind the bench as head coach of the Mountaineers for his second
season. Joining the coaching staff as assistant coach this season is
former Mountaineer forward, Jerry
Minter.
The captains for the
2001 - 2002 Mountaineers have been selected, and they are senior
forward Greg Scholtz, senior forward George Griffith, junior
defenseman Dustin Koufman, and senior defenseman Ron
Sosa.
The Mountaineer Hockey
website has taken on a new design for the 2001 - 2002 season. The
website is also under new maintenance. The new website will allow
fans, friends, and family all over the world to be able to access
all the information they need to know about the Mountaineer Hockey
Team. The new website will provide up to date scores, upcoming

photos, media releases, and more! The new website will also be a
great resource for those interested in attending and playing for
West Virginia University. So, sit back and prepare yourself to
follow and cheer on the Mountaineers through this new and exciting
website as the team heads into their 2001 - 2002 season.
