144. Rose Ella
FRAZEY was born on 25 Oct 1869 in Grundy County, Iowa. She
died on 13 Feb 1899 in Conrad, Grundy County, Iowa. Obituary from
Conrad, Iowa "RECORD" 17 Feb 1899 issue:
Rose Ella Frazey was born in Grundy county, Iowa, Oct. 25, 1869, and died at
her parents home in Conrad Feb. 13, 1899.
March 12, 1891, she was married to Geo. P. Bristley. Two children Ruth and Fay,
together with her husband, mourn her loss. In February, 1897 she was converted
and joined the Methodist Episcopal church. She has been a consistent member and
faithful attendant, coming with her husband and children when health would permit.
Her last and fatal illness dates from Dec. 20th last, when upon taking sick while
in town she was taken to the home of her parents, where the husband's care could
be supplemented by that of mother and sisters. But their united efforts, together
with medical skill and the wisest counsel, could not keep death from claiming
his own. A conquerer had long since come into her life and we rejoice to say
death is swallowed up in victory. Intense suffering fell to her lot and though
she had all that could be desired to cling to this life she has gone to the rest
which remains to the people of God.
The sorrowing relatives, all save her father [husband?] Geo. Bristley, who was
kept at home owing to the severe sickness of a younger daughter, Miss Elva, and
a sister in Clay county, were about her bedside as her spirit took its flight.
We sympathize with them and commend their soul to God.
Funeral services were held at the M. E. church Tuesday afternoon, conducted by
Rev. Cleveland. The remains were laid to rest in the Conrad cemetery.
N.B. Penultimate paragraph is slightly confusing. Rose's father was Nathan D.
Frazey, and her HUSBAND was George Bristley. Rose had a sister named Elva, so
perhaps this is who is meant by "severe sickness of a younger daughter,
Miss Elva"
Rose Ella FRAZEY and George P. BRISTLEY were married in Mar 1891.
After Rose Ella died, her husband, George P. Bristley, married Rose Ella's sister,
Winifred on Dec. 2, 1900. George P. BRISTLEY was born
on 14 Jul 1868 in Hamilton, Bulter County, Ohio. He died on 25 May
1942 in Conrad, Grundy County, Iowa. Obituary from the Grundy "REGISTER"
issue of 28 May 1942:
GEORGE BRISTLEY DIES SUDDENLY AT CONRAD:

over 60 years. He resided on a farm during all of the years that he livedi n

Mr. Bristley was born in Hamilton, Ohio, July 14, 1868. He came to Iowa with
his parents at the age of 12. The family located on a farm in the southwest portion
of the county. Mr. Bristley had lived on his own farm the past 47 years.
Mr. Bristley married Rosa Frazey in March, 1891. They began housekeeping on a

Clem and Jud, and two sisters, Mrs. Oliver Beeghley and Mrs. Elva Bristley, all

N.B. Similar obituary in Conrad, Iowa "RECORD" lists daughters' married
surnames as Mrs. Ruth HALLENE and Mrs. Faye DOMER, which appear to be the correct
spellings, as per the following entries in the Social Security Death Index Records:
Rose Ella FRAZEY and George P. BRISTLEY had the following children:
