Mary Ann is the second wife. There was supposed to be a divorce, which has not been proven. He was 53 when Mary Emily was born. When Mary Lindsey (wife) died the girls went to a home for Civil War Orphans in Chester, PA.

First wife was Martha Thompson. Records claim he deserted her on or about Nov 1880.

He was a Private in B Co, Dale's Cav, Reg. PA mustered out on 1 Dec 1863 source "History of Pennsylvania Volunteers 1861-1865" published 1870.
